On Thursday, March 1st, 2018 noted Celebrity-Chef and proprietor of the New Orleans based Mangé Catering and Events will host a shopping and cooking demonstration for members of Warren Easton Charter High School’s Just Keep Livin’ Foundation beginning at 3:30 PM. According to statistics by the department of Health and Human Services, more than 23 million Americans, including 6.5 million children, live in food deserts – areas that are more than 1-mile away from a supermarket. Statistics also show that residents of Louisiana are less likely to eat healthy servings of fruits and vegetables four or more days per week. Chef Marlon Alexander wants to inspire students to live better with local clean cuisine options that are affordable and readily available in local supermarkets.
Chef Marlon Alexander is a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen. Classically trained, Chef Marlon's cuisine is bold, honest, and vibrant. His professional experience includes roles as Chef de Cusine at West Hollywood's famed Le Parc Suite Hotel, and managing catering as the Banquet Chef for the five diamond award-winning Hotel Bel-Air. Marlon's experience creating the perfect dining experience and menu has allowed him to travel the world as a private chef for Rod Stewart, KISS, Eddie Murphy, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Christina Aguilera, and more.
The just keep livin Foundation was started by Matthew and Camila McConaughey and is dedicated to empowering high school students by providing them with the tools to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future. Locally, this foundation’s work is supported by the generous support of the Brees Dream Foundation whose mission includes work in ensuring that children and families in-need have access to the educational opportunities and experiences that will help to improve their quality of life and ultimately the quality of life of our community.
